IN-PERSON THERAPY

Now Offering IN-PERSON Therapy

In November, 2023, I opened up an in-home therapy office at my house in Scotia, NY.  There is a separate entrance to my office which is soundproofed to industry standards and separate from the rest of my home.  Have you ever considered in-person therapy?  In my opinion, while telehealth is the ideal option for some, in-person therapy offers many benefits!

Affords me the opportunity to read your non-verbal communication through your body language, which may support or augment your verbal communication

Research varies, but some studies claim that up to 80-90% of communication is non-verbal.  Further, there are 9 types of non-verbal communication.  While some of these can be receieved via telehealth, there are some that are undoubtedly communicated more strongly when you're face to face with another person.

Face to face communication in its nature fosters a greater sense of connection and trust.

In general, when we have face to face interactions, we are giving more of ourselves to the interactions.  This works out in a few different ways.  In theory, we feel more fulfilled after a few hour hangout with our favorite people than we do after a few hour zoom call with the same people.  In face to face interaction, people are more likely to develop a greater sense of trust, connection, and therapeutic alliance with their therapist.

Therapy away from your usual environments offers a neutral space to process and heal.

Doing therapy from home is sometimes difficult for people - for multiple reasons.  Home is stressful for many people (often resulting in the need for therapy), and doing therapy within the environment that perpetuates the stress is sometimes counterproductive.  Additionally, therapy at my office will be without the distractions of home - your pets, your kids, your spouse, your chores, your responsibilities ("maybe I'll just start dinner while I do therapy")... and will offer you a place to feel safe, cared for and prioritized.  Many clients remark that their safe space is inside the therapy office.

If you're interested in in-person therapy at my office in Scotia, NY, schedule a free consult!  All consults are conducted via telehealth (as they are shorter and more about information sharing), and then if you want to do in-person therapy we will discuss how that works in the consult.
