Find the answers to commonly asked questions. Of course, many questions that you may have are individualized to your situation. Feel free to use the CONTACT ME page if you need more assistance. Or, you can schedule a free consult to discuss further here!
Unfortunately, I don't. This is usually the first question people ask. I hate to discourage you though, as depending on the cost of your copay or cost-share, you may find private therapy to be a feasible option for you. Additionally, with the use of evidence based techniques, we will ensure that we are utilizing effective and proven strategies during therapy, helping you get more "bang for your buck."
Sadly, insurance companies make it very difficult for a small private practice owner such as myself to become in-network providers. It is my hope that as my practice expands over time, there will be the possibility of accepting insurance in the future.
I currently accept payment via cash, credit card, and Health Savings Card.
All consults are being conducted via telehealth right now. You'll sign up for a client portal and will be able to choose a time for the consult. Once you request the timeslot, I will review and approve it, and then will send you an electronic intake packet to review and sign off on. There will be a few intake forms that you'll complete and it's helpful if you're able to do this before your consult appointment.
During the consult is your time to tell me why therapy, why now? I want to know what's caused you to seek recovery right now. This is also your time to ask any questions you have, get any clarification you need and to make sure I'm the right fit for you! Different therapists have different styles, so part of our initial consult will include me telling you what you can expect from me. After we talk, you can choose to schedule your initial therapy appointment, or take some time to think about it.
YES! I have an in-home therapy office in the vilage of Scotia, NY. While all initial consults are virtual, you have the option for in-person sessions thereafter.
In some special cases, I can do a home visit if determined it would be helpful. There may be an extra cost associated with the home visit.
I do not. The difference between working with kids and adults is literally the difference between working with cats and dogs... there are specialized skill sets for each. I have no experience in working professionally with children, and my experience is limited to being a mom! I do know some counselors that work with children whom I would highly recommend, so email me if you're interested.
That is entirely up to you! Some people seek therapy with short-term goals in mind which can be resolved fairly quickly. Other people have longer-term goals with complicating factors which may cause therapy to last longer. The good news is that it's totally up to you! The frequency and duration of therapy will be dictated by you, the client... I'm flexible!
Let's chat! Of course you're not responsible for knowing whether EMDR is right for you. But we can talk a little about what you've got going on and your past life experiences during a consult and I can advise whether I think that EMDR might be a good tool to assist in your recovery. Schedule one here.
